This week ONLY the top 12 athletes will be allowed to practice-we informed everyone involved last Friday. If you were not there or if you have a question, contact a coach. SUPER IMPORTANT!! SCROLL DOWN AND REVIEW GUIDELINES FOR PRACTICE !!!!
A
Welcome Back Kadets! We are excited to begin our 2020 XC season!!
Information for our 1st week of practice and guidelines for practice
Currently our 2020 season schedule is being revamped and revised. CHSAA will allow us a 7 meet , 8 week season schedule. I will post more schedule and meet information this week.
Our 1st Practice will be Wednesday, August 12th. We will practice W-F this week. Boys check in at 3:20 and girls at 3:30 for a Health Screen-meet at the Air Academy HS Track.
IMPORTANT: At Check-In for practice we need all athletes to stay 6 feet apart until we arrange our groupings and complete our screenings.
1st competition is Saturday-Meet Information is found under "Meet Sheets" in "Race Info".
All paperwork and digital registrations need to be completed and approved before you are allowed to practice - including Planet HS
Extremely Important! For practice we need athletes to arrive at the track masked and stay 6 feet apart until we screen and assign into training groups!
Covid-19 Guidelines for Practice:
1. All athletes arrive to practice wearing a mask. Athletes will be allowed (under coach direction) to remove a mask for a workout after screening and admission to practice. Social distancing is the expectation during all workouts-including movement prep, drills, strength/Core and flexibility.
2. All athletes must be given a D20 Health Screen prior to practice admission.
3. Athletes are assigned to training groups of 25 or less. no co-mingling of groups during practice.
4. Athletes supply their own water source - no community water source at practice. Training equipment that is shared must be disinfected between use. Also, keep in mind that an athlete should bring Adequate amounts of water to practice as it will not be convenient to refill bottles.
5. Athletes are expected to practice in clean clothing and gear. Clothing must cover the torso. Athletes MUST WEAR T-SHIRTS. NO TANK TOPS ALLOWED. Athletes need to keep Tshirts on for the duration of the workout!
6. Athletes are not to congregate before and after practice. Athletes are to leave training area/facility immediately following workouts wearing a mask. Parents are asked to wait in vehicles for athletes after practice.
7. Inclement Weather and sheltering during practice-Official district policy will allow our athletes to shelter in the school during a Lightning Warning but all athletes must be masked and remain 6 feet apart.
That should cover the daily-practice guidelines. I will post schedule and meet information this week! Check back often for updates! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! Coach Schwartz

Summer 2020
Hey Kadets! We are planning on having a few evening runs in July. We will have to follow some specific guidelines from District 20 but we can host a few of them so that you can get to know kids in the program and get out and train. Every athlete attending a D20 summer function will need a waiver form also. I will let you know when the training runs will be and I will post the waiver form and guideline information in advance.
I am asked often what the season outlook is...I haven't heard from any governing body or CHSAA regarding the Fall season. We are all preparing for Best and Worst case scenarios. Best case scenario is we have a season but with strict guidelines and travel restrictions. Possibly looking at multiple day meets for some of the larger invitationals or 50% of teams. I am certain that CHSAA will have some important announcements in JULY.
OUT OF STATE TRAVEL: As of June 16th, Academy School District #20 has extended the out of state travel ban until October 31st. This directly impacts our schedule and our attendance at Casa Grande, AZ.
FOCUS ON THE VARIABLES THAT YOU CAN CONTROL! Continue to prepare yourself daily and you will get your chance soon!!!!

Hello Kadets,
This is Mr. Nalbach. I know this year has been quite a bit different than previous years, and that we have made significant changes for school and spring sports. It has been great to hear that many of you are staying healthy, fit, and being there for friends and family during this time. I wanted to let you know that after being at AAHS for six years, I have made the decision to move to DCC middle school to teach physical education and coach. I will finish the school year at AAHS to the best of my ability, and will continue to be available via email at [email protected]. Thank you for all your efforts, the pasta parties, the meets, and the miles we shared on our beautiful trails. Thank you for the many good memories at AAHS this year and previous years. Thanks to all the students, parents, and staff for the many good memories teaching and coaching.
--Robert Scott Nalbach

No organized practice tomorrow/Saturday-9/1. Run on your own. Long Run day. Same distance as last Saturday. Heartrate should be between 120-150 bpm. Easy recovery run! Monday, run on your own or meet up with some teammates. The workout is repeat 400s. Group 1 has 10-12 x 400m with 90 seconds rest for 1st half and 2 min. rest for second half. Group 2 has 8x 400m with 90 seconds rest for 1st 4 and 2:00 rest for last 4. Group 3-4 has 6 x 400m with 2:00 rest. If you can’t get to a track, estimate the distance or measure it off on a flat surface. Try to average a bit faster than last week on the last 4 reps. Great job today Kadets! We are proud of you! Enjoy the weekend. The Coaches

Hello Kadet XC Family! Please find this week’s meet sheet under the meet sheets section. Let us know if you have any questions regarding Friday.
Also, on Thursday, we will be starting a 28 day team fundraising effort called “Snap Raise”. The fundraiser has been district approved and has a proven track record of raising funds with minimal effort. Basically, each team member will pass on individual contacts for potential donations via email. Tomorrow the team will meet with a Snap Representative and get information. The fundraiser is completely “donation” based and individuals are asked to forward the information on to as many as 20 people who are potential donors. The minimum donation is $20. All email information is confidential and many institutions currently use Snap Raise including USAFA and other AAHS programs. Proceeds will be used to purchase additional uniforms, qualifier t-shirts, summer mileage t-shirts and other team needs. Please review the information and let us know if you have any questions.
Lastly, there is no organized practice on Monday in observance of Labor Day. Athletes need to train on their own. We will send out the recommended workout. Thanks! The Coaching Staff

Arbiter Athlete
Starting in the fall of 2018, CHSAA is requiring all student athletes to create an Arbiter Athlete account. The new system will be used to more efficiently track and execute student participation, eligibility, transfers, and other essential functions of high school athletics. Student athlete’s create their own accounts by using our school’s Quick Account Code (See Below) or they can also create an account on www.arbiterathlete.com. After a student athlete creates their account, a parent or guardian will need to create an account and link the two by following the directions and prompts. This will need to be completed in addition to the online athletic registration process. Both have to be done before athletes can participate in practice.

Hi there,
Here is some general information regarding Desert Twilight…
- The Desert Twilight meet in Casa Grande, Arizona provides an opportunity to run fast times at lower elevation
- The meet takes place September 28th. The majority of the team will stay in Colorado and run another great race, the Royal Gorge Classic
- There are costs involved, such as flight, hotel, and meals.
- Athletes are under the supervision of their parents and/or adult they are travelling with to Arizona. If a parent of an athlete is unable to attend, another parent can chaperone with written permission. Please let us know if this is the case, or you have questions about this.
- Coach Schwartz will be at the meet. We are asking that parents who are attending make a small contribution towards his travel costs, and more information will come. This cost increases the chances of our ability to continue to travel to the meet in future years.
- Hotels: Fransisco Grande is the host hotel, and is within walking distance of the course. Currently the Fransisco Grande is full, but has a waiting list. The Holiday Inn in Casa Grande is another good option. More information on hotels is available through the link below.
- We will start a Remind App specific to Desert Twilight soon.
- On September 27th, we plan to have a short group run in the afternoon. We will also have a team dinner at Olive Garden.
